This sample itinerary will help you discover some quiet places for couples to connect deep in conversation and take in the moments of married life, whether you are a newlywed couple, renewing your vowels, or celebrating a milestone anniversary.

Duration: 7 days, 6 nights itinerary

Day 1: Tokyo to Hakone

  • 09:30 – Pickup in Tokyo: Meet your private driver (click to see more about our service) and travel via the Tomei Expressway to Hakone.

  • 11:00 – Owakudani Volcanic Valley (1.5 hrs): View steaming volcanic vents and taste Kuro-tamago (black eggs boiled in geothermal waters).

  • 13:00 – Lakeside Lunch at Ashinoko (1.5 hrs): Enjoy lakeside dining at Bakery & Table Hakone with heated outdoor footbaths.

  • 14:30 – Hakone Shrine & Peace Torii Gate (1.5 hrs): Walk through ancient cedar groves to the lake-submerged red gate.

  • 16:30 – Check-in at Ryokan: Settle into your suite's private attached rotenburo, followed by a multi-course kaiseki dinner served in your room.

Day 2: Art & Mount Fuji Reflections

  • 09:30 – Hotel Pickup

  • 10:00 – Hakone Open-Air Museum (2 hrs): Stroll through sculpture gardens featuring works by Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, and the indoor Picasso Pavilion.

  • 12:30 – French Lunch with Mt. Fuji Views (2 hrs): Dine at Narukawa Art Museum’s panoramic lounge overlooking Lake Ashi.

  • 15:00 – Sengokuhara Pampas Grass Fields (1.5 hrs): Take a romantic walk through golden mountain meadows.

  • 17:00 – Return to Ryokan: Evening private thermal soak and seasonal tasting menu.

Phase 2: Shuzenji & The Izu Peninsula (2 Nights)

Day 3: Hakone to Shuzenji via Coastal Mt. Omuro

  • 09:00 – Depart Hakone: Drive south along the scenic Izu Skyline highway.

  • 10:30 – Mount Omuro Chairlift (1.5 hrs): Ride the open chairlift up an extinct volcanic crater for 360-degree ocean views.

  • 12:30 – Jogasaki Coast & Kadowaki Suspension Bridge (1.5 hrs): Walk along lava cliff paths over crashing waves.

  • 14:30 – Check-in at Asaba Ryokan: Arrive in historic Shuzenji Onsen. Stroll through the bamboo forest path (Chikubayashi no Komichi) along the Katsura River before relaxing in your tatami suite.

  • 16:30 – Geothermal Bathing at Asaba: Unwind in outdoor hot springs fed by natural thermal waters.

Day 4: West Izu Coast & Sunset Cruise

  • 09:30 – Hotel Pickup

  • 10:30 – Lover’s Cape (Koibito-misaki) (1.5 hrs): Walk down the wooden coastal deck to ring the "Love Call Bell" facing Mt. Fuji across Suruga Bay.

  • 12:30 – Dogashima Cave Cruise & Seafood Lunch (2 hrs): Cruise into Tenshoudo Cave where natural skylights illuminate emerald sea waters, followed by fresh Kinmedai (Golden Eye Snapper) lunch.

  • 15:00 – Koganezaki ("Golden Cape") (1.5 hrs): View golden volcanic rocks glowing under the afternoon sun.

  • 17:00 – Return to Asaba Ryokan: Multi-course kaiseki dinner overlooking the candlelit pond and Noh stage.

Phase 3: Shizuoka & Mt. Fuji Coast (2 Nights)

Day 5: Mishima Unagi & Private Tea Terrace

  • 09:00 – Depart Shuzenji: Head north toward Mishima and the Shizuoka coastline.

  • 10:00 – Mishima Skywalk (1.5 hrs): Walk Japan's longest pedestrian suspension bridge (400m) with views of Mt. Fuji.

  • 12:00 – 🍱 FAMOUS MISHIMA UNAGI LUNCH (1.5 hrs): Dine at historic Unagi Sakuraya (founded in 1856) or Suminobo. Mishima's eel is rinsed in cold, mineral-rich underground snowmelt springs from Mt. Fuji, which removes excess oil and gives the grilled unagi a tender texture.

  • 14:30 – 🍵 PRIVATE TEA TERRACE RESERVATION (Nihondaira Chanoma) (1.5 hrs): Arrive at your pre-reserved private wooden terrace built directly inside the rolling green tea plantation. Enjoy a 90-minute private tea picnic equipped with single-origin Shizuoka green tea, hot thermos, and traditional wagashi sweets with uninterrupted views of Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay.

  • 16:30 – Check-in at Nihondaira Hotel: Sunset drinks in your glass-walled suite.

Day 6: Sacred Waterfalls & Numazu Black Oden

  • 09:30 – Hotel Pickup

  • 10:00 – Nihondaira Yume Terrace (1.5 hrs): Explore the Kengo Kuma-designed observation deck for 360-degree views over tea fields and Shimizu Port.

  • 12:00 – Shiraito Falls & Mt. Fuji Foothills (2 hrs): Visit snowmelt waterfalls spilling from a 20-meter lava cliff face.

  • 14:30 – 🍢 NUMAZU PORT & SHIZUOKA BLACK ODEN (2 hrs): Head to Numazu Port. Sample authentic Shizuoka Black Oden—skewered ingredients like kuro-hanpen (black sardine/mackerel fish cakes) simmered in a pitch-black, soy-dashi broth, dusted with dashi-ko (dried fish powder) and aonori (green laver).

  • 17:00 – Return to Nihondaira Hotel: Final evening drinks facing the illuminated port and Mt. Fuji silhouette.

Day 7: Direct Return to Tokyo

  • 10:00 – Departure from Shizuoka: Relaxed morning drive via the Tomei Expressway back to your Tokyo hotel or airport (Haneda/Narita) by 13:00–14:00. Suggested departure after 5pm.
